CARRS Diabetes Omics
Type 2 Diabetes
Shifting the paradigm of
South Asians offer a unique model for diabetes precision medicine research.
Recent estimates suggest that ~101 million people are currently living with T2D in India alone and the population has a lifetime risk of ~55% for developing diabetes.
Purpose of the Study
Genetic Risk factors
To understand how genetic differences influence the risk of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes and how blood sugar changes over time.
Blood-based Markers
To identify blood-based markers that are linked to the early development of diabetes.
Predictive Modeling
To determine whether adding genetic and blood marker information improves our ability to predict who will develop type 2 diabetes beyond traditional clinical risk factors.
